NEW COMPETITION:
This pages ranks lossless data compression programs by the compressed size of the 30 types of file for 729 MB (765.008.542 byte) bytes:
BMP,TIFF,TGA,GIF, PNG, PSD, PGM, HTML, SYS, DIC,
DLL,DOC,EXE,HLP,JPG, LOG, MP3,WMA, PDF , SAVE,
TAR, TXT, VOB, WAV, XLS, AC3, AVI, ISO, BIN.

NEW RULES:
1) Max 1 GB of memory;
2) Time limit= 1.800 sec. (30 min.) for compression ;
3) No external dictionaries;
4) No errors!
5) EFFICIENCY = (POWER(2; ((size_X / size_TOP) - 1) / 0,1) * time_X)+(size X/500.000).
6) 4 Ranks ? SIZE ? COMP. TIME ? DEC. TIME - EFFICIENCY.

If you decide to add them, please test both original and my experimental speed optimised (_opt) version. The speed optimised version does not compress quite as well, but compression speed is slightly faster on my machine. I'm interested to see how they compare with the other fast compressors on your MOC test.

FreeArc in my MOC test go in CRASH in one BINARY File ! In decompression arc.exe generate big file ! have also tried with the version GUI but doesn't work and jams on that files!

BTW, looks like you tested BALZ with "e" switch only. Why? Due to efficiency reason? Or with "ex" it is too slow and not meets your speed criteria?

Ilia have not sincerely had the time to make a will him/it with option [ex], nevertheless have tried with the preceding version and was very slow! I make an attempt however and I make you know!

BTW, Nania Francesco, please correct some fields:
BALZ v1.07 uses ROLZ and about 130 MB of memory for compression. In addition, you may freely test it with "ex" switch - it not that slower than simple "e"!
