It is feature. You compress twice because all files listed are compressed if exists and first file name is also used for naming archive so file1="game" file2="game\*"

    Code:
    - To compress: fp8 [-N] file1 [file2...]

The compressed output file is named by adding ".fp8" extension to
the first named file (file1.fp8). Each file that exists will be
added to the archive and its name will be stored without a path.

  2. Thanks:

Well but who wants to have two copies like that and naming archive as <foldername> is common.

Dear Jan, Thank you very much for this release!
I have been looking for compression tool that gives the best compression/speed ratio,
while also taking in attention the RAM consumption and compression tool size.
Your fp8 compressor is a clear winner = almost the same compression ratio as paq8px and much much faster!

Two things should be done now (perhaps by me, I should try to) :
    1) carefully import the improvements from the new versions of paq8px that came out after paq8px_v98
    2) Linux support - should make the source code compatible with the recent g++ compiler found at Linux distros

EDIT: wonderful, looks like the source code is fully compatible with Linux, compiles perfectly with g++ 6.3.0, e.g.
    Code:
    g++-6 -Os -s -fomit-frame-pointer -DUNIX fp8_v6.cpp -o fp8_v6 -lz (+ -static if needed)
Hopefully, while I will be porting the improvements from paq8px_v131 I wouldnt break the Linux build,
because paq8px_v131 original source file still can't be compiled at Linux without some code rewrite

    Hi... I made a GUI for this fp8: https://mega.nz/#!LEk0QQga!A89WHQljo...WnSEApdyDZJnwQ
If it's not a problem.. I personally like compressors with GUI so i thought it would be cool to use with GUI.
I will add a version and a compression level selection to the GUI later.

Hi!! paq8px has moved along quite a bit the last few months. Just wondering if fp8 is going to be updated to incorporate some of it's code. It's been a while since the last update....Thanks
