    And here I was happy about the 12TB drive I had and all it's space.

    Yeah, well, it begins to make sense if you need to store >200 TB
    12*20 = 240TB
    20 * ST12000VE0008 ($288) = $5760
    15 * ST16000VE000 ($373) = $5595
    20 x LTO-8 ($1877) + Internal tape drive ($3127) = $5004
