Just found this forum today, I am so glad too. I have recently started a Research Masters on Compound image compression. I look forward to reading as much as i can here.

What are your skills? Do you master any programming language?

Hi Gonzalo,

So I recently graduated with a Bachelors of Engineering(Hons) in Electronic Engineering. Im coming at this project fresh, though I have studied some Information theory. I have basic level coding skills in c, c++ and java but hope to really work on that.
Thank you for the recommendation, I will definitely look into it.
I hope to implement an efficient algorithm that can incorporate both lossy compression (for pictorial screen content) and close to lossless for text and graphic content. a primary objective is to save on Bandwidth (and of course, reproduce a screen with comparable visual quality to H.264, etc).
