Just checked on the NanoZip site and found this link, hope it hasn't been mentioned already but a search of this site found nothing so thought i'd post it.

Hm, BCM not listed yet...![]()
And strangely BALZ and QUAD are both tested with Normal compression mode. Note that both programs have a switch for a higher compression which still untested...![]()
Please Help me !Flashzip
(Do you have information that should be added to this page? Please contact CompressionRatings.com.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disqualified. Does not compress anything, no error message is given.
I don't succeed in understanding what he/she wants to say !
Time limit ? Crash ? or other ?

OK Thanks Sami is true ! Verified error in compression with no option compression setting !

Flashzip0.92 evidently fails the compression with determined core in how much with my Intel Core duo 2 are all right everything, while trying him/it with an AMD 24OO fails the test!
Flashzip Crash only in AMD core's !
Am working to the version 0.93 that still needs test and that I will release soon with good news !
Did you use intel specific compiler switches and/or hand-written assembly?
BIT Archiver homepage: www.osmanturan.com
Don't be a problem of compiler, the fact is that with the version 0.092 had introduced the wide use of multilevel Hash of bit that some problem of LZ-Match (true) has created me with the chip AMD!
HOOK 1.3c usage : simply
Hook c 256 infile outfile -> not Hook 256 infile outfile disqualified ??????
Incredible BZP UNRATED ??????????
BZP is archiver and single file compressor!
IS ARCHIVER !
Best command:
example of compression
BZP r c:\test\ c:\output
example of decompression
BZP d c:\output c:\out\
Simple or not ?
Is BZP a compressor from me made a will on over 20 GBs of data, has you/he/she passed all the most important tests inclusive SQUEEZECHART I don't understand in what it doesn't work?
Last edited by Nania Francesco; 13th March 2009 at 22:02.
Have need of this DLL but this doesn't mean that doesn't work! deal with a DLL free for Download! The difficult to understand is that BZP doesn't work!
Dear Pat357 me as have said so many so many times I don't manually make the tests but I use a program that verifies the content of the source and destination and evidently they are not equal!
I think that criticisms are correct at times! but at times the best criticism and to leave alone everything as is already!
Instead of improving Nanias english seems getting worse.
Could perhaps improve the translator I of English almost understand nothing but I know well French!
Cannot believe there, really, have personally tried Flashzip 0.93B on a PC equipped of processor Atholon AMD 2400 and has not given some problem with all the parameters! I would appreciate to this point a help, considered that has passed the whole other tests! Where is the error?
Examples of compression :
Flashzip source destination
Examples of decompression :
Flashzip -x source destination
PS
Perhaps a help can give him/it me, Sami have looked and checked that the program Flashzip.exe is cleared from Windows for the execution (has often happened Me with so many programs but I don't have them certain disqualified!!!!! all it takes is authorizing them with the right key of the mouse him it goes to the Menu)

You could try the Pagefile training him/it
Problems that are created disabling the Pagefile.sys:
If you have installed XP on FAT32, you have good probabilities to find you
corrupt file if not even to find you the damaged FAT32 and therefore to install everything making a format
If you have the NTFS you have good probabilities that nothing doesn't happen, even if however these sudden blocks could bring in the long run however to find you some corrupt files.
Me use commands API of "windows.h" and are they possible incompatibilities?

FROM http://compressionratings.com/2009 August 15
Flashzip 0.99b3 submitted by the author.
Packet 0.91a added.
The site has another new feature, a comparison tool. This tool helps comparing two or more compressors (or configurations). See 7-Zip vs WinRAR for example.
Since fast compressors add no significant strain to the benchmark system, the following modification is made to the qualification rules: any compressor that is faster (either compressing or decompressing) than PPMd Jr1 (default conf.) is qualified. Squeez, JAR, bwtzip, QazaR, flzp and other compressors qualify and additional configurations from XWRT, lzturbo, Flashzip, and from several others now qualify as well.
I think it maybe explain why some programs crashed as some posts mentioned.Sami:
Ok. I just tried the program, but "csc3.exe -m1 -d1 test out" crashes.
Probably the problem is with compiler switches (you need to disable SSE2
etc).
Compression ratings.com:
Tests are run under Athlon XP 2200+ CPU (family 6, model 8, stepping 1) with 768 MB memory using Windows XP with pagefile disabled. The CPU supports MMX, SSE1, 3DNow!, 3DNow!+ instruction sets.
Fortunately, Sami compiled a new one on my source and tested it.

The site has a new feature. Top 10 page shows a brief summary of the results for the best compressors by rating.
The qualification threshold is reduced again, to a 1/10 rating of the best one (previously 1/6).

Flashzip 0.99b5 submitted by the author.
Fixed an error in Application1 timings for Flashzip 0.99b4 -m1 -c7 -b8.
Changes to the corpus. Audio1 set is replaced by a 'mini' version that consists of the same samples cut in half of the original length. Now the audio has a weight of 3% and images 3% in the corpus. Text is overweighted at 9% (on the other hand text is more compressible than audio or images) considering it is unorthodox to find hundreds of megabytes of text in one place

Reference files is a new feature for the site. We run tests with common test files with all compressors (including those that did not qualify for the main benchmark).

There's some major redesign in progress:

Please post suggestions while it makes a difference :)
I agree with Fu.
I believe Sami has also proposed a separate one-core ranking ?
This would help to compare pure algorithm efficiency, as opposed to multi-core distribution efficiency (which is usefull too). Currently we are lacking this visibility.
As a second note, I'm surprised by one of the changes :
Why random ? And not the usual TAR ?Application2
MinGW compiler with files copied into a single file in random order.
