Hello all,
I have a large number of files (text and images) using a unknown compression type from a old 2003 game.
I have also obtained some of the files in decompressed from and verified they were the same as their compressed counterparts using their associated CRC32 hashes.
I think it may be some form of run-length encoding but I am new to compression and need help identifying it.
Attached is a zip of 2 files in compressed and decompressed form.
The compression appears to have no header, but all compressed files start with a sequence of nulls.
The compressed files also seem to have nulls seemingly randomly placed throughout the file - does anyone know what purpose this would serve?
If it is not a standard form of compression, I would really appreciate if someone could explain the first few lines of one of the compressed files to me.
Thanks in advance for your time and effort!
