Back when I was a kid, back when hobby computer magazines had programming columns and fun programs and tools and sourcecode on coverdisks, back before the internet, I used to play with markov chain text generation.

Of course my naive approach suffered from lack of corpus; if it picked a rare word, it’d get railroaded into using the next rare word and so on.
I remember running it - I expect I was using Turbo Pascal and I can’t imagine where I got the input text from - and getting back a page-full of gobbledygook. And there right in the middle, somehow drawing the eye like a magnet, was one of those railroaded sentences:
herbaceous
Well when your random roulette picks the word herbaceous, its likely only seen it once or so in its learning text, so there aren’t so many words it can pick next:
herbaceous border
So far so good. But where does this lead next?

So if you were generating spam text, you could perhaps 'rate' it by appending it to a large corpus and then seeing how well a good CM or PPM could compress it? Better compression means more convincing gobbledygook?

Any way my english sucks too. But sadly its the only language I somwhat know.
At least you have some Chinese to fall back up on.

I use to get board on posts years a go so what is I think something called the "Shannonizer" so could write like poe or einstien it was great not sure if it's still outthere for all to use any more.

I found one way to make goobly gook. Is write a small text message and use an online translator to to several languages and then back to english. I use to teach math at a local community college here in El Paso. I don't any more since I don't know spanish. But when I wrote messages on the display to students I would also sometimes use a translator to convert to spanish. It often caused much laughter since it often did no make sense. Wheat was interesting was sometimes translate it straight back to english it matched what I wrote. So you need to do at least 2 language translations before it goes back to english. The result thou was never as good as the shanonnizer I hope someone here know what happened to it.

I heard about the Shanghai stock bubble. Lots of people lost money. It happened in the U.S. in 2000. Everyone thought they were going to get rich because stocks were on a rocket ride. We never learn. It happened with gold in 1980, with oil and real estate in 2008.

I agree about C++. It's a lot more powerful than C. Just harder to learn.
