    Word Predicting Software/Algorithm

I'm about to start college in the fall. For the summer, I am working as a researcher for the organization Technology Against ALS. It is designing an eyewear that patients with ALS can use to type messages through eye movements: http://www.ta-als.org/our-projects/

I'm researching word prediction software and algorithms for the organization. I was wondering if anyone might be able to suggest some good free word prediction software.

    Thanks.

There was just a list of language-processing software on Hacker News, but I can't find it. Something on here may be helpful: http://www-nlp.stanford.edu/software/index.shtml

Predictive compression isn't usually at the word level, so you'll probably want at least some additional software that's not strictly compression.

I recall (can't remember where) a similar device using a mouse instead of eye movements. A menu tree on the right presented letters enclosed in rectangles proportional in size to their probability. You moved up or down to select the next letter and left or right to make it go slower or faster. It learned a context model from past input to assign probabilities.
