    Red face Edgesounds "rathole"

"EdgeSounds' RatHole (formerly GenieSys RatHole) is a free, unique, nondestructive universal media compression utility. Its function is based on a principle of self-training neural networks. RatHole was especially designed for archiving all kinds of sound files and is capable of compressing to the amazing rate of 40-80%." More information can be obtained from the EdgeSounds web site.

    http://www.edgesounds.com/rathole.aspx

it supports many audio formats..and i tested it with http://www.soundzone.info/sf2/UK-Fatonic05.zip and its lossless..(but not file date)

i have attached a packed file for "portability" testing as it should unpack correctly.. size (6332706 byte) checksum for data (8B5C133C) so please confirm..

    i tested compression with winzip 12 (1024kb) winrar (945kb) 7-zip (1030kb) paq8p1 (572kb log file attached)..

so if its pure lossless..its good so its detection for different audio formats is great..

specs of sound font bank file (*.sf2) are here
    http://connect.creativelabs.com/deve.../AllItems.aspx

and you can use "riffView" mentioned http://www.daubnet.com/en/file-format-riff to view thre file structure (it should work with most of RIFF files.. wav, avi, cdr,..)

Compression ratio seems rather poor if compared to "generic" compressors/archivers.
It looks that the .sf2 can be highly compressed after "diffing" the channel info using something like Bulat's multimedia tool MM. (also integrated in FA).
More info about MM & download : http://www.haskell.org/bz/ for download http://www.haskell.org/bz/mm11.zip
After this, BWT/PPM/DMC seem to work very well on the output from MM.

The .sf2 file can be compressed to below the 360 Mb.
I used arc a -mmm+compressor to create the following list :
    Code:
compressed size / (mm) + archiver
      359.491 1sf2_arc_mm_bliz_10000.arc
      373.538 1sf2_arc_mmm_pmm_128_1500mb.arc (= arc a -mmm+pmm:128:1500mb archive *.sf2)

I replaced .sf2 header with .wav header for PAQ8p-wavmodel testing this file...
resulting size was apx. 375500 bytes

great (what did you do exactly.. you add a 44byte header instead od "riff" alone"?) but the link is (6.1mb)..

another thing is for other audio formats .. it may requires the same thing so first i have to dig for samples and here is a start (also take a look at wave samples its great it even have float-64 and multi-channel.. godd for testing "wavmodel")
