What's the reason for shouting? FusionIO has offered bigger and faster cards for several years. They were not affordable for mere mortals, but at quick glance I don't see a price at this thing either.
you mean all caps? it was in original message, sorry. yes, such sort of things are known for many years, some of them are even rather affordable (i mean ocz revodrive). but i very like the idea of placing 8 msata beds on the card instead of gleing flash chips right to the board. actually, it's just a SATA RAID card with a built-in msata beds instead of sata cables. such sort of cards may break high price barriers of fast ssd staorage. for example, one can buy 2-4 sata soft raid cards for $20-30
Actually that's what the 1st OCZ PCI card was. But having everything integrated means that there are less parts used, which means lower production costs (though design costs may be higher).
when thing goes to mass-production - yes. but while it's produced in small quantity, making thing more universal allows to reduce costs
If you have a huge, ultra-fast disk, then you don't need compression as much. Conversely, if you have fast, effective compression, then you have less need for a huge and fast disk. Using a small and slow disk on your own machine might give you a greater incentive to work on compression.
