i think for the most case is good to have a commandline-compressor
and in most cases is no need for a full featured grafical interface
a good compromise is to have
a plugin for the popular total commander
for example i found such a plugin
for the lzo-format (long proved and very fast compression)
under
http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/wcxlzopack.html
should means may be it is easier to implement such a plugin for a cmdline-compressor than to implement a full grafical interface
and the usefulness is the same
remark: this plugin use a tar.lzopack format
here is another lzo-plugin too
