plugins for total commander - an alternative to full-grafic-interface

i think for the most case is good to have a commandline-compressor
and in most cases is no need for a full featured grafical interface

a good compromise is to have
a plugin for the popular total commander

for example i found such a plugin
for the lzo-format (long proved and very fast compression)

    under
    http://www.totalcmd.net/plugring/wcxlzopack.html

should means may be it is easier to implement such a plugin for a cmdline-compressor than to implement a full grafical interface

and the usefulness is the same

remark: this plugin use a tar.lzopack format

    here is another lzo-plugin too

There's MultiArc, which can be configured to use for any fully functional (supporting multiple files, addition, moving, extraction and so on) archiver. Bulat provides FreeArc configuration data for MultiArc, but at the time I've tried it (with 0.40 version) I had a problem: it failed to compress a directory with no subdirectories in it. The reason was that MultiArc passes directory names without ending "\", while that version which I tested with required ending "\" for dirs. Maybe it's fixed now.
ADD: Seems that in the latest alpha(23 jun 200 it's fixed!

I use Directory Opus for all my command line tool integration, and personally i find using windows without DOpus frustrating and inefficient. It's the 1st program that gets installed on any new windows installation along with IrfanView and Opera. I have all the various FreeArc versions setup up under it so i can rmb click on a folder and compress it with ease and the same with individual files for various compression modes with the output dumped into log files for comparison. Been using DOpus for over 15 years now! Started with it on the Amiga and never looked back
