FileOptimizer with ribbon interface?

After some complains about the FileOptimizer's interface, arguing, it is ugly and chumby, I have created an updated prototype with a ribbon.

To me is more attractive, and easy to use. In the other side, it eats some screen space, and may seem overloaded. Also, with a metro like style with black colors, it is not so appealing.

What do you think? Do you consider the ribbon pretier and more usable?

To me neither looks OK...
Ribbon is a broken concept, so I don't bother looking into it.
The other though could enable users to interact with it in more ways. Buttonbars and menus for example... The way it is now looks confusing. If I saw the window w/out the open menu I would be very puzzled, asking myself how the heck am I supposed to use it. There's so much text...and the upper half of it (the one that user looks at first) is useless. When I saw a list of extensions I stopped attempting to read texts at all. After a long time I noticed that the second piece of text contains an instruction, but I *think* that if it wouldn't be a picture I would start clicking randomly before spotting it.

I noticed the confusion of what to do, and so much text. That is why I removed those superfluous text in the ribbon version, and make bold the important one. Hope it is clearer.

I think the ribbon interface is a huge overkill, but judging by looking at these two screens, the ribbon is still better. The menubar is IMO the best solution for this program (or at least "optimize" button somewhere) - I saw that you added it in v4.

How about a command line interface?

Indeed it is present. Simply launch FileOptimizer.exe and as a parameter in the commandline the full path for the folder or fileyou want to process.
