Hi,
I was going through my Archivers/Compressors collection when I saw that I had a copy of v1.6pre1 of LZPX but that the Lzpx home site lists v1.5b as the newest. ???
The exe file date is Nov 21, 2005. And when run it displays, "lzpx 1.6pre1 (c) 2005 ilia muraviev."
I cant remember where I downloaded this from, but it was either the current Lzpx homepage or one the old homepages at encode.su or encode.narod.ru.
So, where does v1.6pre1 fit in? and why was it removed from distribution?
Thanks.

LZPX v1.6pre1 was removed because it was too slow: +100!!! times slower in the Maximum Compression MFC (~6000s vs. 54s) than LZPX 1.5b (only 6-30 times in my tests).

Yes, LZPX v1.6pre1 was too slow (due to unefficient hash table), so I choose to remove this version. By the way, the PIMPLE is just improved LZPX 1.6pre1.
Also don't mix LZPX and LZPXJ - it's a different programs.
